Affordable Housing Lottery Launches for Innovative Urban Village Phase1A in East New York, Brooklyn

The affordable housing lottery recently launched for Phase1A of Innovative Urban Village at 30 Inspiration Lane in East New York, Brooklyn. Designed by Practice for Architecture and Urbanism (PAU) and SLCE Architects and developed in a joint venture between the Christian Cultural Center, Gotham Organization, and Monadnock Development, the $270 million master plan calls for affordable and supportive housing across 10.5 acres on the campus of the Christian Cultural Center.

Phase 1A spans 437,000 square feet and will yield a total of 385 affordable rental apartments, nearly 17,000 square feet of commercial space for a full-service grocery store, and 82 below-grade parking spaces. The property is located at the corner of Pennsylvania and Flatlands Avenues.

Of Phase 1A’s 385 apartments, 291 are part of the lottery for households – spanning one to six people per household – earning between 30 and 80 percent of the area median income (AMI), or $23,040 to $150,400. Units are priced at $561 per month for studios, up to $2,691 per month for three-bedrooms. The remaining 94 units are reserved for individuals and families in need of on-site supportive services, and for survivors of domestic violence.
