GRAND RAPIDS, MI — ArtPrize’s new executive director says he wants to broaden participation in the annual art competition, reinforce its commitment to openness and rekindle the excitement that defined its early years.
Tyler Loftis, a New York–based artist and West Michigan native, was named executive director after serving about two years on ArtPrize’s steering committee. He succeeds Catlin Whittington, who had led the organization since 2023.
“When Catlin decided to leave, I just offered up my help,” Loftis said. “I would never have imagined, to be honest, I would be sitting in this seat. But it’s a huge honor.”…
