Video of unarmed Florida man’s arrest sparks outcry over police brutality, accountability

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (CBS12) — The mother of a 23-year-old man beaten by Jacksonville officers says the incident reflects a longstanding pattern of excessive force in the department.

According to Action News Jax, Bianca Gordon, mother of Dasaun Williams, is speaking out after footage showed officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office repeatedly striking and tasing her son during an incident in November.

“I keep my mouth closed for y’all to keep beating people. When you took that job, you took an oath to do your job to the best of your abilities,” Gordon said during a Friday press conference. “He could have died at that scene, and neither officer gave a care. They did not care what they were doing to my son. It could have been anybody’s son, not just mine.”…
