Actress Phylicia Rashad will be the commencement speaker at Oakwood University’s graduation ceremony next month.
Oakwood University spokesperson Richard Hodnett told AL.com that Rashad’s appearance had been in the works since February. She will speak at the commencement at 10 a.m. on May 8 at the Von Braun Center.
Rashad is perhaps most known for her portrayal of Clair Huxtable on The Cosby Show, earning two Emmy nominations. She became the first Black woman to win a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for A Raisin in the Sun (2004)…
