The Belhaven University menβs and womenβs track and field teams competed in their fourth meet of the outdoor season at the Southern Miss Invitational in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The meet featured strong performances across various events for both teams.
Julius Phillips led the menβs sprint group, running a personal-best 49.87 seconds in the 400 meters, breaking the 50-second barrier. He also clocked 22.51 seconds in the 200 meters. Leeson Taylor III finished the 200 in 23.31 seconds, while Seth Haynes improved his 100-meter time from 11.64 to 11.45 seconds. Taylor also posted 51.19 seconds in the 400 meters, and Jaheem Cook finished in 53.81 seconds. In middle-distance events, Jacob Turner ran a personal-best 2:09.88 in the 800 meters, with Drew Duckworth finishing in 2:06.39 and Donovan Hurst in 2:14.10. Peyton Vandevuss completed the 1500 meters in 5:03.15.
In hurdle events, Damian Sidelien posted a time of 17.28 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles, slightly slower than his previous meet. Freshman Kenneth Mills cleared 1.98 meters in the high jump, marking a highlight for the field events. In horizontal jumps, Alex Reed finished second in the long jump with a mark of 7.01 meters, ranking No. 9 in NCAA Division III this season.
