Lehigh Valley weather: Elevated fire danger Tuesday as dry air mass moves in

An elevated risk for fire spread will develop across the region Monday and especially Tuesday as a dry air mass infiltrates the Lehigh Valley region following a cold front passage.

Relative humidity values will drop significantly, with minimum values reaching 20 to 30% Tuesday afternoon, creating conditions that approach criteria for a Red Flag Warning about the potential for fire spread, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Monday will bring westerly winds around 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 20 to 25 mph, combined with minimum relative humidity values in the 30 to 40% range. These conditions present an elevated fire weather risk but do not currently meet Red Flag Warning criteria.
