Man killed after a driver hits him and then a car in southeast Charlotte: CMPD

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A man was killed after walking across Independence Blvd in southeast Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Just after midnight on Saturday, April 4, officers responded to a vehicle crash with injuries near the 7600 block of E. Independence Blvd. When they arrived, they saw an unresponsive man in the roadway, along with two damaged vehicles and their drivers.

The pedestrian, 54-year-old Christopher John Schea, was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. The two drivers were both wearing their seatbelts and were not injured.

Investigators believe Schea was crossing Independence Blvd when a Toyota Camry, driven by a 27-year-old woman, and a Toyota Corolla, driven by a 30-year-old man, were driving east. The Camry first hit Schea, and then hit the Corolla…
