Greenfield & Rotunda Police Chase Crash Leaves Woman Dead, Driver Nabbed

A police pursuit that crossed the Dearborn–Melvindale line ended in tragedy last Friday when a woman died following a crash near Greenfield Road and Rotunda Drive, and a man was taken into custody. Melvindale officers say the chase began after an officer tried to stop a vehicle, and both people inside were detained at the scene. The female passenger later died, while the male driver was hospitalized after the collision before being released into law enforcement custody.

Police Say Warrant Alert Sparked Pursuit

According to Melvindale police, the incident started when the Michigan Department of Corrections alerted them about a driver wanted on a warrant. An officer then reported spotting a vehicle that may have been stolen, and the driver allegedly took off instead of pulling over. The vehicle ultimately crashed near Greenfield and Rotunda, and officers arrested both the male driver and female passenger at the scene, CBS News Detroit reported. Police have not released the ages of those involved.
