2 small earthquakes rattle North Carolina about a half hour apart south of Greensboro

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Two small earthquakes rattled a Randolph County area just south of Guilford County about a half hour apart on Sunday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Both quakes were 2.3 magnitude, and the first was reported around 2:15 p.m. near the Glenola community about 5.2 miles west-northwest of Randleman, the agency reported. The incident was along Interstate 74, USGS maps indicated.

A reading of a second earthquake from the U.S. Geological Survey was made at 2:46 p.m. A measurement then put that quake about a mile from the first incident at 5.2 miles southeast of Archdale…
