Keeneland Odds Snafu Caused By Data Connection Delay

A technical glitch between the United Tote totalizator feed and the graphics displayed on Keeneland’s simulcast signal led to incorrect odds being shown on many of the horses in Saturday’s fifth race at the Lexington, Ky., track, including the winner, U Devil You.

The odds displayed on the Keeneland signal showed U Devil You at 14-1 as he was loaded into the starting gate for the seven-furlong allowance test. They remained the same throughout the race, but as U Devil You returned to the winner’s circle they were shown as 13-1.

When the payoffs were posted minutes later, however, those who bet $2 on U Devil You to win only received $18.74, and the official odds on Equibase were listed at 8.37-1…
