On Sunday at 1:32 p.m. the National Weather Service released an updated flood warning in effect until Monday at 9:45 a.m. for Monroe County.
The weather service informs, “Small stream flooding along Irondequoit Creek caused by heavy rainfall is expected for Monroe county.”
“Water levels will remain high along Irondequoit Creek through at least Monday morning following runoff from heavy rain last night. Extensive flooding is likely in Ellison Park, and water may approach Blossom Road where is passes through the park,” says the weather service. “Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Hikers and fisherman should avoid streams or creeks.”
