Village reflects on historic Ohio River flooding one year later

CINCINNATI — One year after historic flooding along the Ohio River forced evacuations and damaged homes and businesses in a village just east of Cincinnati, the impact is still being felt by residents and business owners working to move forward.

While visible signs of the flooding have largely faded, many in New Richmond say the recovery process has taken time.

After days of heavy rain across the region in April 2025, the Ohio River rose to major flood stage, with water levels reaching around 60 feet. The rising water inundated large portions of the village, impacting dozens of homes and businesses, including those in the downtown riverfront area…
