CSX aims to fix washed out track Monday

COLOMA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — CSX says it hopes to fix a washed out track near Coloma and get trains moving again by this afternoon.

The freight company said a track inspector found the washout east of Clements Court around 5 p.m. Saturday, which meant it had to shut down the line.

As a result, Amtrak, which uses the same rails, had to cancel Pere Marquette Train 371 and Train 370, the southbound and northbound trains between Grand Rapids and Chicago, Amtrak Alerts said on social media.

In the meantime, Amtrak said, it would switch to buses, with express service from Chicago to Grand Rapids and Holland.
