Walmart shoppers hit with new bag ban policy – and US state adds $500 fines

UNDER a proposed bag ban policy, millions of Walmart customers in one state may have to rethink their shopping habits.

This comes as officials crack down on single-use plastics to help reduce pollution, with retailers who break the rules even facing fines up to $500.

The city of Beaufort, South Carolina – roughly 40 miles north of Savannah – is working to roll out stricter regulations on plastic bags as well as a ban on foam products.
