A stretch of Perryville Road in Winnebago County will get its first major rehab in 5 decades

ROCKFORD — A concrete road that was built more than 50 years ago to keep up with traffic from what was the newly opened CherryVale Mall is set to be repaired and resurfaced with asphalt pavement.

The Winnebago County Highway Department is working on plans to rehabilitate a more than 2-mile stretch of Perryville Road from about a quarter mile south of Harrison Avenue to East State Street. The project is expected to go forward in 2027…
