STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Easter Sunday is the most glorious day in the Christian year, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ after his crucifixion at Calvary, as described in the New Testament.
For Christians, the day often begins on Holy Saturday, the eve of Easter, with an Easter Vigil, church services, and festive family meals, often with the traditional lamb.
In keeping with tradition, faithful parishioners gathered at Our Lady Star of the Sea R.C. Church in Huguenot on Saturday evening, where the Rev.. Joy Mampilly celebrated the Easter Vigil.
