High-speed chase in Buffalo ends after driver gets stuck in traffic jam

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The New York State Police say a Buffalo man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly fled police without a license or license plates.

Elias E. Cook, 23, has been charged with Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree, as well as “a handful of Vehicle and Traffic Tickets.”

Troopers say they were patrolling State Route 33 in Buffalo on April 4 as part of a cooperative speed initiative with BPD when they saw a 2015 Dodge Charger without license plates. After turning on their emergency lights, the Charger allegedly tried to flee at a high rate of speed. However, after getting stuck in traffic on Route 198, Cook allegedly exited the car and was arrested without incident…
