Socorro Cut Off as Phones and Internet Crash Citywide

Phones and internet across the City of Socorro went dark on Monday, leaving residents and municipal offices temporarily cut off from city lines as crews scrambled to figure out what went wrong.

City officials issued a municipal alert saying phone and internet systems were down citywide and asked the public to sit tight while city crews and technicians worked to restore service. There was no estimate for when systems might come back online, and officials warned that routine non-emergency communications could be delayed while the outage is addressed.

Emergency calls are still directed to 9-1-1.
