GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Martin Luther King Jr. Street closed at US-131 Monday morning, ushering in a monthslong closure as crews rebuild an aging section of the bridge in Grand Rapids.
MLK Jr. Street, formerly known as Franklin Street, is shut down between Ionia Avenue and US-131. It won’t reopen until mid-November, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.
The ramps to and from northbound US-131 will also be closed for the same period of time, which means drivers will have to use Hall Street or Wealthy Street instead. The ramps to and from southbound US-131, however, will remain open.
