Delivery man dies trying to stop carjacker in Newark: police

NEWARK, N.J. (PIX11) — A delivery man died while trying to stop a carjacker from driving off in his vehicle in New Jersey Saturday, authorities said.

Police said Jhon Aponte Alarcon, 46, left his car running while delivering packages on Bergen Street in Newark when the suspect hopped into the vehicle at around 12:45 p.m.

The suspect allegedly drove off while Alarcon was holding onto the car and crashed into a parked vehicle, causing it to overturn and crush the victim, according to the Newark Police Division.

Alarcon was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved, police said…
