FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCBD) – First responders are urging swimmers to take extra precautions at Lowcountry beaches following the drowning of a man on Sunday at Folly Beach. As the investigation into the cause of that drowning continues, a moderate rip current warning is in effect.
For beachgoers, it’s important to be aware of weather conditions as the moderate rip current risk is in effect until Tuesday. High winds have been creating choppy waves, meaning residents and swimmers are urged to proceed with caution. Rip currents are powerful enough to pull swimmers under the water and away from the shore.
