Historic research vessel Robert Gray to dock in Charleston in April for spring tours

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — A historic research vessel will be docking in Charleston in April, allowing Lowcountry residents the chance to come aboard for tours, events and expeditions throughout the spring.

Previously docked at Pier 25 in New York City’s Hudson River Park the ROBERT GRAY is a Voyagers Club flagship vessel and serves as one of the oldest working research vessels in the United States. The ship, a 125-foot steel-hulled research vessel built in 1936, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

During it’s time docked at the Charleston Maritime Center, guests will be able to join guided tours of the historic ship, attend the signature “Talking Ship Supper Club,” gather for cocktail hours on deck, or book the ROBERT GRAY for private gatherings. All the while guests will learn about the ship’s rich oceanographic and military history, hear firsthand about upcoming scientific expeditions, or voyage on a Lowcountry Expeditions…
