Kameron Hill scattered four hits and struck out eight over seven innings from the mound as the Falls Lake Academy Firebirds topped the Oxford Prep Griffins with a 4-1 score in the second round of the Vance Charter Easter baseball tournament.
The Firebirds jumped out to an early lead after Kace O’Briant’s triple and a sacrifice fly to center field by Owen Joines that scored O’Briant.
Falls Lake Academy added to its lead with O’Briant hitting a ground ball and reaching on an error. O’Briant did not slack up as he rounded the bases. O’Briant was able to score on an errant throw.
Jacob Watson smacked a double but was left stranded on base.
Oxford Prep put a run on the board in the bottom of the third inning with Bryson Preddy leading off with a single. Preddy would eventually steal second and third for the Griffins.
