Scarlett Chapital was terrified to open her Duke admissions decision, so much so that she delegated the task to her 9-year-old brother as she hid in the attic. It was the last decision she was waiting on, and the acceptance she wanted the most.
Fortunately for the New Orleans native, her brother bore good news; she got in.
Chapital was one of the 2,083 prospective Blue Devils admitted to Duke through its Regular Decision admissions cycle last Tuesday. For them, and the 847 students admitted in December through the Early Decision admissions cycle, the stress of college application season ended on a high note. The overall acceptance rate for the Class of 2030 was around 4.7%, comparable to the Class of 2029…
