The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is replacing 66 cameras throughout the state after a contract with a private company expired last July. Many of the cameras are in rural mountain areas where people rely on them to view highway conditions. Among the 66 cameras there is one located in Boulder County and two located in Weld County.
The Boulder County camera is located at CO119 northbound at CO 72 Coal Creek Canyon Road. The Weld County camera is located at US 85 northbound at Jackie Ann Street Railroad Avenue in Ault. The second Weld camera is at CO 52 westbound, 7.9 miles south of CO 14.
The work will start with pole removal and caisson installation for the new poles. Conduit will be installed for sites that have a fiber connection or will operate on a utility power.
