BOULDER, Colo., – Wyoming track and field picked up five event victories to close the weekend at the Jerry Quiller Classic, Saturday.

COWBOYS Senior Cam Burkett won Wyoming’s first title of the day in his outdoor season opener in the shot put. His put of 18.89 meters, the No. 6 mark in the nation this season, secured the victory on only his second attempt. All four of Burkett’s fair throws landed over 18 meters, the only competitor to reach that mark.
Freshman Ayden Mills competed in his first collegiate hammer throw event and placed eighth in the finals. His best throw, coming on his first attempt, landed at 50.09 meters, just two inches over ninth place.
In the 1,500 meters, sophomore Austin Akers finished 14th overall with a time of 4:02.51. He was followed by sophomore Meyer Smith in 19th, crossing the line at 4:07.09. Also in the event, junior Aidan Ramsey placed 23rd with a time of 4:09.08 while sophomore Nolan Hoffman took 24th at 4:10.03…
