Two US aircrew safe after rescue, mission not over

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Two aircrew members were safe after a rescue, but military experts said the operation was far from finished.

According to Air Force search-and-rescue doctrine, even after a successful rescue, crews had to secure the area and make sure everyone got out safely.

“Rescue, combat air patrol, or RESCAP, is one of the most complex and dynamic missions that we do,” said Mark Hasara, a retired U.S. Air Force lieutenant colonel.
