PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) – Authorities say two people have died and a third is presumed dead after a car sped through downtown Portland early Monday and plunged into the Willamette River.
The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) said the crash happened shortly after 2 a.m. when an officer saw a car driving the wrong way at high speed and running red lights on downtown streets.
According to police, the officer tried to pull them over near Southwest 3rd Avenue and Harvey Milk Street but they didn’t stop. The officer did not chase but watched as the car crossed Southwest Naito Parkway, entered Waterfront Park and went into the river…
