Autism awareness weekend events planned

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A weekend filled with events is being planned to raise awareness about autism acceptance and to raise funds for the cause.

The Magnolia Rose Foundation is hosting an upcoming golf tournament, the 5th Annual Rose Color Run, and Sensory Sunday. The group’s mission is to create safe and fun spaces for autistic and neurotypical children to play and learn through monthly play dates and more.

Golf tournament

The golf tournament is called the United Inclusive Invitation and is set to take place on Friday, April 17, between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. The Magnolia Rose Foundation has partnered with Camp United to make the tournament possible.

Organizers of the tournament are hoping to raise funds to launch two new and fully inclusive summer camps. One of the camps will be in Baker, while the other camp is expected to be in Livingston Parish.

Color run

The 5th Annual Rose Color Run event is set for Saturday, April 18, between 8 a.m. and noon at Baker City Park, which is located at 3325 Groom Road in Baker. There will be 3K and a 5K for families to participate in, snacks and drinks from food trucks, and more…
