‘Project O Street’ preconstruction begins downtown

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) -Project O Street, the city of Lincoln’s plan meant to improve a stretch of downtown blocks, has begun preconstruction.

According to Lincoln Transportation and Utilities, that preconstruction includes tree removal, and will likely last around four days. Due to the project, one westbound lane of O Street from 13th to 16th streets has been closed.

The entire phase of construction on the three block span, which will continue to feature different variations of road closures, will likely last through the fall of 2026, according to a timeline posted on the cities website. It is part one of the three phase construction project that is expected to finish by the fall of 2027…
