Learning the fundamentals: Willard Police teaching local kids boxing and discipline

WILLARD, Mo. (KY3) – In Willard, the punches come with a purpose.

A police-run boxing program is teaching kids far more than how to just bob and weave. Inside a warehouse at the Willard Police Department, kids from all around Southwest Missouri come to learn the fundamentals of boxing. The program is run through PAL (Police Athletic League)

“I joined the program last year. I heard it was really fun,” said Leia Pripele, an 8th grader in the boxing program. “It seemed like a good thing to learn how to defend yourself, but I’ve also learned that you can make friends here.”…
