Moncks Corner man arrested after police find drugs during patrol near hotels

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — The North Charleston Police Department has arrested a man after they located fentanyl and drugs in his vehicle.

Richard Yarborough, 57, is charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and possession of methamphetamine.

Officers were patrolling near hotels on Ashley Phosphate Road because of the ongoing narcotics activity in the area on Sunday night when they saw Yarborough driving slowly and behaving suspiciously. After he stopped abruptly and pulled into a closed business lot, he told officers he was trying to reach a nearby lodge.

During the interaction with Yarborough, officers noticed that he appeared very nervous and had trouble producing his ID. After officers asked him to step out of the vehicle, they saw an open toolbox in the back seat containing a small bag with a crystalline substance…
