A Clearwater man was arrested following a crash that investigators say was caused by an illegal turn and involved signs of impairment, according to an arrest affidavit.
According to the affidavit, the incident occurred on April 4, 2026, at approximately 10:10 p.m. at the intersection of Court Street and Highland Avenue in Clearwater.
Investigators say 74-year-old Delbert Leon McBride was involved in a two-vehicle crash after failing to obey a posted traffic control device prohibiting a left turn at the intersection. The violation caused his vehicle to be struck by eastbound traffic, resulting in the vehicle overturning onto its roof.
