PIKE COUNTY, Alabama — Four people were killed in rural Alabama late Friday night after a driver attempting to flee a state trooper lost control of their vehicle, highlighting ongoing concerns about the dangers of high-speed police chases.
The crash happened in Pike County, in southeast Alabama, when a driver tried to elude the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s highway patrol on a rural road. The vehicle left the road and struck a tree.
