New exemption rule brings international champions to Masters

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Twenty-two newcomers will make their Masters debut this week, and six of them earned their spot through a new exemption rule announced last August.

Augusta National Golf Club and the R&A announced automatic invitations would be awarded to the winners of six international opens: the Scottish Open, Spanish Open, Japan Open, Hong Kong Open, Australian Open and South African Open.
