Birmingham DAV chapter calls for volunteers ahead of Community Impact Day

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Local veterans’ advocates are calling on the community to step up and serve those who have served.

Disabled American Veterans Chapter 4 in Birmingham is preparing for Community Impact Day on April 4, part of a nationwide Sinclair Cares initiative focused on giving back to veterans. Leaders say the need in the community is real — and growing.

“Our veterans have a variety of needs,” said Mattie Harper, commander of DAV Chapter 4. “Some of them are homeless, some of them need help with their bills.”…
