Harrisburg taxpayers to foot mayor’s $330,000 legal bills

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — Harrisburg has spent more than $330,000 on three legal cases involving Mayor Wanda Williams, according to figures from the city’s law bureau.

The cost represents private counsel for the city, mayor and city council in the cases. Insurance covers some of the fees, but taxpayer dollars will pay for most.

The city spent $97,166.90 on legal representation for the mayor in a 2022 lawsuit filed by Nate Spriggs, a former public works director who accused the mayor of pressuring him to give preferential treatment to her relatives, which Williams denied.
