Court dismisses appeals of ex-MPD officers in Tyre Nichols murder case

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The court has dismissed the cross-appeals of four officers named in the Tyre Nichols death case.

Demetrius Haley, Tadarrius Bean, Justin Smith, and Emmet Martin III all filed appeals with the Sixth Circuit Court in an attempt to raise new issues, but the court has dismissed the appeals citing a lack of jurisdiction.

This comes after both Haley, Smith, and Bean were granted a new trial by the district court. Emmitt Martin and Desmond Mills, who pleaded guilty, will not be included in the new trial…
