On the edge of a forest near Chicago, two tiny kittens were left all alone. Covered in dirt, sticky sap, and bits of leaves, they mewed loudly, hungry, scared, and hoping their mom would return.
Luckily, fate had something better in store.
A passerby heard their cries and followed them through the trees until they found the source: a black kitten named Burr and her silvery-black brother, Bug.
Only a few weeks old and far too fragile to survive alone, the kittens were quickly scooped into a blanket and rushed to a local animal shelter.
At the shelter, it was clear they needed more care than the staff could provide. They were weak, malnourished, and so tiny that their teeth hadn’t even come in yet…
