CALCASIEU PARISH, LA. (KLFY) — Almost 30 pounds of cocaine was seized following a traffic stop with a child present in the car, deputies said.
Detectives reported they made contact with the driver, Kim D. Hill, 52, of Houston, at a traffic stop on a car on I-10 near mile marker 42 for a traffic violation on March 31. When detectives approached the car, they observed a five-year-old child seated in the front passenger seat.
While speaking with Hill, deputies said they observed signs of in-transit criminal activity. Deputies searched the vehicle and deployed a K-9 drug detection dog, which allegedly provided a positive response to the odor of narcotics emitting from the car. Upon search of vehicle detective located 12 packages concealed inside the trunk that contained a total of 29.8 pounds that tested positive for cocaine.
