Delaware Marathon Running Festival Highlights Wilmington’s Scenic Routes and Community Energy

Wilmington’s waterfront and historic streets will once again take center stage as runners and spectators gather for the Delaware Marathon Running Festival, a multi-day event that blends athletic achievement with the energy of the city. Held over the weekend of April 18 and April 19, 2026, the festival draws participants from across the region for a race experience that showcases Wilmington at its best.

Centered at Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park, the event offers a range of race options, including a full marathon, half marathon, 10K, and 5K. The variety allows runners of all levels to take part, from seasoned athletes aiming for personal records to first-time participants looking to be part of the experience. Race day on Sunday features early morning start times, with the marathon, half marathon, and 10K beginning at 7 a.m., followed by the 5K.

The course itself is a defining feature of the festival, guiding runners through a mix of urban and natural landscapes. Participants will move through downtown Wilmington, along the Brandywine River, and into scenic areas such as Brandywine Park and Rockford Park.
