Colorado Connector, “CoCo” for short, is the new name of the Front Range Passenger Rail District’s planned rail service connecting major metropolitan areas of the state.
CoCo received the most votes in a four-option “Name the Train” contest in which over 25,000 Coloradans voted. CoCo received 9,500 votes — around 37% of total votes cast. Other options included Front Range Express Destinations (FRED), Colorado Ranger and Rangelink.
“CoCo and FRED, the two whimsical names, together took close to over 70% of the vote,” Gov. Jared Polis said during an April 6 Zoom press conference following the name announcement. “People really wanted to have that fun whimsy piece to it, rather than just strictly a more serious name.”…
