The 18th Street Gang was behind the killings of 15-year-old Joshua Guzman on Long Island and 20-year-old Jonathan Figueroa in the Hudson Valley, among other deadly incidents, according to the Justice Department. The gang has also been blamed for additional shootings and gang activity in the region.
Jose Douglas Castellano, 27, described as a high-ranking member of the gang, was sentenced Tuesday to 35 years in prison for his role in the conspiracy, the feds said.
Castellano ordered the October 2017 murder of Figueroa, who was suspected of cooperating with authorities in the investigation of Guzman’s death, according to the Justice Department. At Castellano’s order, other 18th Street Gang members tricked Figueroa, then took him to Turkey Point State Forest in Saugerties, brutally stabbed him to death and buried him in a shallow grave, the feds said…
