Teen charged with attacking mother over rap videos wants case moved to juvenile court

GREEN BAY (WLUK) — A hearing is set for April 30 on Ramone Waupoose’s request to have his attempted homicide case moved from adult court to juvenile court. Waupoose, 16, allegedly attacked his mother with a hedge trimmer because she deleted rap videos on his phone.

Waupoose is charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide and first-degree reckless injury for the July 16 attack.

In Wisconsin, those between 10 and 16 years old charged with most homicide-related counts are charged in adult, not juvenile court. The defense invoked a mechanism to request the case be moved to juvenile court, but such requests are not automatic and require a judge’s approval. That hearing is now scheduled for April 30…
