Lincoln police issue 865 citations in winter traffic safety campaign

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The Lincoln Police Department announced Tuesday that it issued 865 citations during its winter traffic safety project.

From Dec. 4 to March 31, the department said officers, highly proactive in traffic enforcement, worked overtime outside their typical shifts.

The officers shifted their focus to offenses such as speeding, driving too fast for conditions, following too closely and failing to yield the right of way, which are reportedly primary contributing offenses that lead to crashes…
