Moreno removes ‘Homeland Security’ from emergency office title; signs 2 other executive orders

NEW ORLEANS — Mayor Helena Moreno announced that she has signed three executive orders to improve city operations, including park management, emergency response, and hiring.

One order creates a task force to reform the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission. The group will review governance, partnerships, and funding, and will explore possible consolidation with the city’s Parks and Parkways department. It will also focus on improving community engagement and ensuring park safety, including addressing lead concerns.

Another order changes the role and renames the New Orleans Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness to the New Orleans Office of Coordination and Emergency Management.
