A local legend has found a new home. Frank & Lupe’s is preparing to open a new location in Scottsdale’s Gainey Ranch area, marking the next chapter for the long-standing restaurant known for its New Mexico-inspired cuisine and family-rooted traditions. Frank & Lupe’s Gainey Ranch is expected to open in Spring 2026.
The expansion introduces Frank & Lupe’s to a new neighborhood while maintaining the recipes, hospitality, and approach that have defined the brand for decades. The new restaurant will operate under the ownership of Piero Aviles, who is overseeing the Gainey Ranch opening while continuing to honor the legacy of founder Maria “Lupe” Bernal.
Originally founded in Socorro, New Mexico, Frank & Lupe’s was built on family recipes and a commitment to traditional cooking methods. The concept later expanded to Scottsdale, where it became a neighborhood staple known for its approachable atmosphere and consistent menu. The restaurant’s reputation has been shaped by dishes rooted in Bernal family traditions, including signature enchiladas, fajitas, and green chile-focused offerings.
“Frank & Lupe’s has always been about heart, hospitality, and honest food,” says Aviles, in a press release. “We’re not changing what works. Lupe’s recipes, her traditions, and her standards are still at the center of everything we do.”
At the new Gainey Ranch location, guests can expect many of those established menu items alongside a selection of seasonal specials. The menu will continue to highlight made-from-scratch recipes prepared daily, reflecting the same culinary approach that has guided the restaurant since its early days in New Mexico…
