Kent State University is introducing new themed housing communities set to launch in fall 2026 that aims to reshape dorm experience and strengthen student connections on campus. Instead of grouping students by major, the university plans to organize housing around shared interests.
The shift is designed to help students build friendships beyond academics. According to resident assistants, the current system often connects students through mostly their academics, but these new communities will open opportunities to meet people with the same interests as them.
These themed communities will also help RAβs hold targeted events tailored to the students interests making it easier for students to connect.
