BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – A man who is reportedly illegally in the United States has been sentenced for illegally possessing a firearm.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office, in November 2025, 39-year-old Stanley Amalemba Ambeyi, plead guilty to the charge of being an illegal alien in possession of a firearm. Ambeyi is a citizen of Kenya.
The record at Ambeyi’s change-of-plea hearing says that on April 11, 2025, a Birmingham police officer stopped Ambeyi’s vehicle. During the stop, the officer saw a box of ammunition inside the vehicle which prompted the officer to ask Ambeyi if he had a firearm inside the vehicle, according to the US Attorney’s Office.
Ambeyi reportedly told the Birmingham police officer that he did not have any firearms inside. The officer then told him it was illegal to have an open alcoholic drink inside and asked Ambeyi to get out of the vehicle…
