Community meeting set on Dominion Energy, Santee Cooper gas plant and pipeline

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — The Charleston Climate Coalition is holding a community meeting to connect local environmental advocacy groups and residents with an opportunity to share their opinions about the proposed Dominion Energy and Santee Cooper gas plant and pipeline in Colleton County.

The South Carolina Public Service Commission is holding a public hearing in Columbia at 7 p.m. about the proposed Canadys gas plant, but those concerned here in Charleston are coming together to voice their opinions.

Dominion Energy and Santee Cooper are partnering to build the Canadys Station in Colleton County, S.C., by transforming a retired coal site into a 2,200-megawatt facility, which they say will have enough power to power 1 million homes.
